About Caroline
Caroline has been an avid practitioner and teacher of the Ashtanga system of yoga for over 20 years. She studied dance and movement at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and went on to study Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology at Temple University. Plagued by injuries and frustrated by an inability to heal with traditional Western therapeutic modalities, Caroline sought out a more wholistic approach to attain true physical and mental health. She began taking an Ashtanga Yoga class in preparation for her first 10 mile race and has never looked back. That class propelled her on a journey to seek out and study with some of the most senior teachers of this method.
In 1999, Caroline began her studies with Beryl Bender Birch and continued with David Swenson, Tim Miller, Eddie Stern and others. More recently, Caroline has studied with David Garrigues and believes that every great teacher is, first and foremost, a dedicated student.
Come join her as she expertly guides you on a journey of self-discovery. Whether you are looking to begin or further a yoga practice, tone and strengthen your body, steady your mind or heal a tired and overworked body, Caroline’s knowledge and compassion can guide you on your journey.

no practice on new or full moon days…rest
moon days
In Ashtanga yoga, we observe the new and full moon days as days of rest from our asana practice. As our bodies are made up primarily of water, we recognize the rhythm of nature and our bodies’ connection to the phases of the moon. The full moon tends to make us feel energetic and emotional, but not well grounded…too headstrong. On the contrary, the new moon energy makes us feel calm and grounded, but dense and disinclined toward physical exertion. For these reasons, we rest on new and full moon days.
